The project emerges from the concept of living beneath a vault within a high-rise collective residential building, developed in response to a new special urban plan designed for the San Rafael district in Málaga.
Regarding the morphology of the complex, it comprises an ascending succession of prefabricated elliptical vaults that are offset from those below, originating from the foundation slab.
The building, standing 43.9 metres above ground level, accommodates parking across 3 basement levels, commercial retail space on the ground floor, residences across 10 levels, and communal amenities on the top tier; making a total of 12 storeys above ground and 3 basement levels.
The residences are configured with two vaults for the two-bedroom ones, three for four-bedroom, and one for the single-bedroom units; the internal layout is defined by the separation between an open-plan communal vault (housing the living room, dining area, kitchen, and terrace) and compartmentalised private vaults (containing bedrooms and bathrooms).

Shifting the vaults off-centre to the vertex of the adjacent extrados generates a play of shadow and depth across the facade, further heightened by recessing the terrace and joinery line. The residual interstitial spaces created by this displacement allow for the seamless integration and maintenance of building systems.
Access to the building is mediated by footbridges traversing a vegetated embankment, which facilitates natural light and ventilation for the subterranean levels, and connects with two courtyards. These courtyards, generously proportioned to ensure abundant natural light, take advantage of the expansive volume between the lower-ground vaults to accommodate mature planting with deeper root systems within their perimeter.

Following the principles of prefabrication, the structural framework comprises a sequence of symmetrical pairs of precast concrete voussoirs. These form a series of three-hinged arches, which rest successively upon one another at their respective vertices via metallic profiles positioned and bolted along the vaults.
These structural elements exhibit a gradated thickness, tapering as they rise in elevation.
Each vault features interior dimensions of 3 metres in height by 3.8 metres in width. Furthermore, the soffits will be finished in a dark sand-toned lime plaster—a material steeped in the architectural tradition of Malaga—which serves to prevent cracking in continuous surfaces while its coloration accentuates the cavernous quality of the dwellings.
